Life is filled with so much awe and wonder, yet when we feel overwhelmed and exhausted, we have difficulty connecting to it. We can get so focused on meeting everyone else’s needs and attending to the urgent tasks on our “to do” lists that we miss the opportunities to embrace the magic and miracles along the way. Being weighed down by the myriad of mundane responsibilities in our lives can leave us feeling stuck, frustrated, and uninspired.   

When we live in this chronic state of stress, we are less aware and receptive to the awe and wonder around us. Over time we may feel more disconnected from ourselves, the people we love, and the magnificent Earth we call home. Embracing magic and miracles can transform a life of just surviving into one of thriving with more peace, joy and meaning than we knew was possible.  

What would it take for you to give yourself permission to welcome in a thriving life and live in a state of wonder and curiosity? Are you ready to open your heart to receive all the wonders the universe has to offer you? By choosing to embrace magic and miracles, you will be empowered to transform your mind, body, and spirit to become the true artist of your own life.  

There are so many self-nurturing practices you could engage in to begin the journey of embracing more magic and miracles in your life. I want to invite you to start with the practices that resonate most with you. As a gentle reminder these practices are offered as opportunities to nurture yourself and open to awe and wonder, not to be confused with more items for your “to do” list. Take a breath, place your hand on your heart and listen to the wisdom of your heart as you continue reading. You are the artist of your beautiful life and filling your cup with magic and miracles will open infinite possibilities of growth and healing!  

Self-Nurturing Practices for the Mind: 

  • Affirmations: Start by setting your intention with a positive affirmation like, “I am open to embracing magic and miracles.” Repeat your affirmation to reinforce your commitment to yourself and the universe. Affirmations will focus your attention and mind on the awe and wonder all around you.  
  • Gratitude Practice: Begin this practice by looking for blessings in your life. Gratitude is the easiest way to connect to magic and miracles as you acknowledge and celebrate what you notice creating more opportunities to be grateful. Gratitude amplifies your awareness of magic and miracles. You can return to the practice over and over when you need to reconnect to the awe and wonder in your life.   
  • Mindfulness: This practice will support you in cultivating an attitude of curiosity, compassion, and non-judgement as you bring your full awareness to your experience. This nurturing attitude will make embracing magic and miracles easier as you learn to bring a new quality of awareness and attention to your experiences. Bringing mindfulness to your day-to-day tasks will elevate those activities and allow you to see the magic and miracles even in the mundane, like washing dishes.  

Self-Nurturing Practices for the Body: 

  • Gratitude for your body: Your body is a miracle! No matter how your body is functioning or looking at this moment, the fact you are alive is a miracle. When you practice gratitude for your body by listening to its wisdom and acknowledging how much it does for you, more magic and miracles will flow. Grounding our gratitude practice in our bodies brings us back to the present moment where awe and wonder abound. Use this practice to embody magic and miracles!  
  • Mindful movement: Bringing your full attention to your body when you walk, practice yoga, lift weights, or move mindfully in any way will connect you to the magic and miracles of your body. Bring your compassionate, kind, and loving attention to your body as you move, and you embrace the awe and wonder of all you learn and the magic of being alive.  
  • Dance: To uplift your mood, release stress, and feel empowered to embrace magic and miracles at any time, play your favorite music and dance with wild abandon! You can make a magic and miracles playlist for future dance parties. Allow your creativity to flow!  

Self-Nurturing Practices for the Spirit: 

  • Choose awe and wonder: Are you ready to see the world through the lens of awe and wonder? Choose to embrace magic and miracles and create a practice of intentional noticing, taking time to pause and connect with the awe and wonder around you. Keep a magic and miracles journal to inspire and uplift you!  
  • Be in nature: Spending time in nature is one of the most powerful ways to connect to awe and wonder. Take time to watch the clouds, a sunrise or sunset, a flower blooming, listen to the birds, witness the seasons changing, feel the sun on your skin, garden, and savor the beauty of this magnificent Earth. Notice the small miracles all around you beckoning your awareness. Celebrate the magic and miracles of your interconnection with our beautiful Earth!  
  • Write a love note daily: Write a love note to yourself or someone in your life each day to connect to the healing power of love! This beautiful practice will spread love, compassion, and kindness in the world. Being a beacon of love and light is a powerful way to embrace magic and miracles and feel the positive impact you make in the world!  

As Louise L. Hay wrote, “As my mind can conceive of more good, the barriers and blocks dissolve. My life becomes full of little miracles popping up out of the blue.” 

May you embrace a flow of magic and miracles in your life as you nurture peace in the world from the inside out!
