“Enthusiasm is excitement with inspiration, motivation and a pinch of creativity.”~ Bo Bennett
I love leading writer’s lounge monthly at Hera Hub, the co-work space for women where I meet with individual clients, lead workshops and connect with amazing female entrepreneurs. I cherish our weekly time set aside for creativity. A most interesting and talented group of women gather to focus their energies on writing blogs, books and content of every kind.
Whenever I lead, I offer a question to explore before we begin writing. Having the opportunity to connect with each other and ourselves before we start writing is very centering and provides a spark for our creative energy.
I have found that I am always more productive and energized in my writing process when I attend writer’s lounge. There seems to be a synergy that happens as we each focus on our own work but within community that translates into more powerful and dynamic writing for each of us as result.
Recently I posed the question, what self-nurturing practice do you use to fuel your creativity?
You see I believe that no matter whether you define yourself as a writer, artist or creative person, creativity is essential to our lives. Creativity is often overlooked as a foundation of our wellbeing and some women even deny having any creativity at all.
And yet we use creativity all the time, when we parent, problem-solve, cook, communicate, strategize, imagine, dream and create anything in our lives. Our creativity is a well of possibility, which fuels our enthusiasm, energy, joy, hope and feeling that anything is possible.
So finding ways to nurture our creativity is crucial. Some ideas about fueling our creativity shared by the group at our writer’s lounge included finding creative inspiration in a hot bath, walking on the beach, meditating, connecting with friends and/or family, reading, being in nature, art and of course writing.
- What self-nurturing activity would you add to the list?
- How could you include it in your daily life?
- What difference would it make to regularly nurture your creativity?
If our creativity is a well we can draw upon for ideas, inspiration, and energy, then it is critical to nurture it every day! Exploring ways you already nurture your creativity is the first step and then adding to those activities while reflecting on the benefits you receive will help your practice stay consistent and sustainable.
May you commit to self-nurturing practices that boost your creativity and may you live authentically in truth and beauty through the art of self-nurturing!
