Learning to Trust Your Intuitive Decision-Making Superpower

Learning to Trust Your Intuitive Decision-Making Superpower by Carolyn McGee | #AspireMag

Intuition is the superpower that allows us to make crystal clear decisions. When we know how the messages are being given to us and how the truth feels in our bodies, it is easy to trust ourselves. Once we trust the messages and the truth of the messages, we feel confident taking action on the guidance.

We all “know” more than we give ourselves credit for. We are born intuitive beings. Often our inner wisdom is taught out of us. We are trained to follow the guidance of our parents, teachers, religious and community leadersinstead of what we know in our hearts to be true. This is confusing and can cause us to doubt the divine information we receive 24/7.

My clients often state that they are aware of the messages but just don’t trust them. Or they don’t trust themselves enough to act on it. They are paralyzed with fear of being wrong or of letting down a loved one or mentor. So, they make the choice of non-action. This results in missed opportunities.

Or they make a decision and agonize over if it was the best choice.  They do not allow themselves to move past the choice into the next guidance and next right step. It effects their health and happiness as they are stuck in the loop of “what if.”

Sometimes, it is the endless cycle of checking in with a friend or family member about “what do you think?”  This creates disempowered decisions and decisions from fear of not fitting in.

In my years of intuitive readings and coaching, I realized that many people don’t trust themselves so they develop coping mechanisms to support them in attempting to make a decision that they can live with. The reality is that what they live with is not always in their highest good.

Which decision-making style is your goto?

  1. Outside validation.  This style asks for other opinions instead of what is right for them. What does God want me to do? What does my family say I should do? What does conventional wisdom say about this? Let me pull a fifth Oracle card just in case. This style is all about putting your power outside yourself.
  2. Jump right in.   This is the style where you shoot from the hip and you make a decision without all the facts. Then, whether it’s hours later or years later you regret your decision.
  3. Agonize.   You’re paralyzed, and you spend so much time trying to either analytically make a decision and weighing all of the facts and/or all of the emotions that you literally cannot make a decision and so the opportunity passes you by.
  4. Analysis paralysis. You push all of those instincts and intuition off to the side and lineup things on a piece of paper or spreadsheet with pros and cons and go completely with what your head says to be right even if there is a nagging doubt in your heart or in your gut that the spreadsheet is wrong.
  5. Trust in self.  You use a balanced combination of intuition, logic, and faith in yourself to make crystal clear decisions that you are happy with. You check in with your heart to find the truth.

Learning to trust in our own self (#5) is an important part of intuitive decision-making. Each moment we have the chance to choose what we believe. Do we believe our hearts or what we are told? I lived many years not trusting myself and my heart. I know now that my heart is the truest barometer of truth.

When I started my journey to reconnect with my spiritual truth, I was looking for outside validation of my truth. I didn’t know how to connect with my heart and body to know the truth to make empowered decisions.

Learning to Trust Your Intuitive Superpower and Decision-Making

When I was learning to trust my guidance, I looked for verification of each choice. I had a friend I would text “yes” or “no” to when I needed to make a decision. I didn’t trust my own guidance and needed to hear that my intuition and guidance was correct. Her answers always matched my guidance, but I needed the outside validation and “proof” for me to trust myself.

made dowsing rods from some metal coat hangers. As I asked the questions of yes or no, I realized that my heart also responded. When the rods gave the answer of yes, I felt safe and comfortable. When the rods gave the answer of no, my heart contracted.

My right cheek also flushed when the rods pointed yes. When the rods pointed no, my left cheek became full. I recognized these and other signals that my body always sent me to verify truth. I started to understand how my physical body spoke to me to verify truth and validate guidance.

This started my understanding that our bodies feel and know the truth. Once we listen and acknowledge the resonance our body has with guidance and truth, our lives become so much easier and joyful. Each of us has a unique way of showing truth in our physical bodies.

Then, I remembered that our hearts are our most intuitive muscle and always state the truth. I remembered time after time when my heart spoke to me and I ignored it.

I remembered when I felt fear in my heart about buying a house with my then boyfriend and the dreams of not being safe. These were visions of being violated that did not make sense, until the emotional abuse (realized years later) was clear.

There were remembrances of people hired at companies I worked for that my heart knew would betray me. Yet, I allowed circumstances to block my knowingness.

Then, the clarity of seeing these events in the rear view mirror allowed me to create a simple way to validate energy and truth for myself. I was sick and tired of searching outside myself for the answers and for the validation of my truth.

I stepped into believing myself, my guidance, and the truth in my body so that I could take action without second guessing myself.

A Simple, Yet Powerful Intuitive Decision-Making Process

Put your hands over your heart and ask a question that you would like an answer to.

Does your heart warm? Does it feel inviting?

If so, then the answer is positive. If you feel repelled, chilled, or uncomfortable then the subject is not good for you.

Practice this daily and you will start to immediately recognize your own intuition and have the power to make choices with deep spiritual guidance. This will bring peace and ease to your life.
