The Key Benefits of Pushing Past Your Comfort Zone – Thrive While Creating Change

The Key Benefits of Pushing Past Your Comfort Zone – Thrive While Creating Change by Patricia Young | #AspireMag

As a Success and Purpose Coach, I’ve seen that the worst thing you can do in your career is to stay where you are “comfortable” for years, without taking any steps to live a more fulfilled life. I was there myself, and what usually happens is that you begin to doubt your alignment with your job and your value in the marketplace, and you start feeling unfulfilled and unhappy.

You really wonder if you would succeed and thrive outside your current employer and what’s known to you. I had to learn – the hard way – that no job is secure. The only security that we have is our Authentic Self – our gifts and talents – and how much of a difference we can make at a higher level. When you live aligned to your True Self and your True Purpose you’ll thrive, you’ll be joyful and fulfilled, you’ll have a sense of freedom, like never before. But to do this, you need to push yourself out of your Comfort Zone.

The problem is that we tend to take the easy way out and stick to what’s known and “safe” to us. Stepping out of our comfort zone and trying new things, is very difficult because it will trigger fears. We are afraid of the unknown and we tend to cling to the comfort of what’s uncomfortably well-known to us.

We say to ourselves that we want to change, grow, be better, evolve, have a better life, but in some way, we tend to self-sabotage and procrastinate. I know, from my own experience, and what I’ve seen with my clients, that it takes tremendous courage to face what we often times want to ignore the most.

The truth is that no change can come from staying in the same place, making the same decisions, taking the same risks. Once I really understood this, I was able to make a few difficult and scary decisions, but in the long run, these brought much growth, expansion, joy and freedom in my life.

“You will either step forward into Growth, or you will step back into Safety.” -Abraham Maslow

We tend to tell ourselves stories, excuses and justifications for why we can’t make changes; and we tend to blame other people or circumstances for our decisions, lack of action and stuckness. When the reality is that we are the creators of our own lives. We are responsible for what we experience. We are always creating, either by default or design.

One of the most common fears that we face is “What if I fail?” but, have you asked yourself, what if you Succeeded?? In order to thrive while you create change in your life, you have to be willing to take different risks, step into growth, so you can get different results. Here are some of the different results you will get in your life by stepping out of your comfort zone:

  • You’ll be amazed of what you’re capable of – you’ll tap into gifts that you were not aware you had.
  • You’ll get clarity about each step to take as you follow your path, often times the steps won’t be revealed until you commit to pursue your path
  • Amazing synchronicities and coincidences will start to happen with more regularity in your life
  • Your relationships improve in a magical way as you feel the joy and sense of rightness about your path, you will relax and let others be who they are. You’ll release the idea of having other people be different for you to be happy because you’ve taken the steps you need to be truly happy and connected to your Authentic Self.
  • You’ll feel a deep sense of fulfillment and satisfaction with your life and life becomes a joyful and creative adventure that always was meant to be.
  • You’ll be living from an authentic place, owning your own story. Your life will not be based on “shoulds” anymore.
  • You would be providing an amazing example to your kids, by encouraging them, and those around you, showing them that it’s possible to live being true to yourself. Ask yourself, Are you the adult that you want your child to grow up to be? And remember, your dreams are as hungry as your fears, so make sure you’re feeding your dreams and starving your fears!

Next time you find yourself hesitating, think that the only way to live a bigger and fuller life is by pushing past your Comfort Zone. Living a life you love is your birthright but also your responsibility. Don’t look back on your life one day and ask yourself “What if I would have taken the risk?” By stepping away from what is known and safe, you’ll step forward into higher growth and will have no regrets, because living the life you came here to live, and being who you came here to be – giving your greatness to the world, will create a beautiful ripple effect that is so needed nowadays!
