Smudging, an ancient ritual, becomes a sacred act of self-care when approached with intention and a touch of Goddess style. It’s a way to cleanse your space, purify your energy, and, most importantly, reconnect with your inner Goddess. In our modern world, where we often feel disconnected from our intuition, smudging offers a powerful tool for grounding, realigning, and expressing our authentic selves.

The Four Principles of Smudging: A Goddess’s Guide
To craft a truly transformative smudge, let’s embrace these four principles through the lens of the Divine Feminine:
- Banishing: Releasing the Old, Embracing the New (Goddess Style): This is about clearing away negativity and stagnation, making space for your Goddess energy to flourish. It’s like decluttering your inner temple.

Each herb and essential oil hold unique properties, offering a rich palette for crafting your Goddess-inspired smudges. The following is by no means an all-inclusive list, but it is a great way to get you started:

Crafting Your Goddess Smudge Recipe: Trusting Your Intuition
Crafting your own smudge recipe is a sacred act of self-expression. Trust your intuition, your inner Goddess knows what you need.
- Listen to Your Inner Goddess: What intention does your Goddess self whisper to you? Are you seeking grounding, clarity, or inspiration?
- Gather Your Goddess Tools: Select herbs and oils that resonate with your intention, trusting your instincts. Remember, you don’t need a degree in aromatherapy, trust your inner knowing..
- Prepare Your Goddess Smudge: Create your smudge as previously outlined, infusing it with your personal energy.
- Open the window so the energy you are clearing away has a place to exit. Otherwise, you are merely moving it around.
- Which way to direct the smoke? If you are clearing a physical space, you are directing the smoke away from you. If you are clearing and connecting to your Inner Goddess, direct the smoke towards you- then up and over your head, around each side, under your feet accordingly.
- Smudge with Goddess Intent: As you smudge, visualize your inner Goddess radiating light and power. Feel her grounding you, realigning your energy, and filling you with love. Use affirmations like, “I am grounded, I am centered, I am connected to my inner Goddess.”
- Ground and Reconnect: After smudging, spend time in nature, meditate, or engage in activities that nurture your Goddess self.
Goddess Tip: I prefer to use as natural and organic tools and ingredients as possible. (This is another way for you to tap into your creativity!)For example:
- A glass, clay, or metal container for mixing. (Air tight for storing.)
- I use a shell I found on the beach to mix with, you can use a wooden spoon or your hands.
- I use either a tiny cast iron cauldron or an abalone sea shell for the smudging ritual along with a feather or a feather fan.
