Romance In the Astrological Chart

Romance In the Astrological Chart by Catherine Gerdes | #AspireMag

Rising above the others, there’s one planet which inspires song titles spanning decades and genres. Venus proves to be the ultimate muse.

Venus spends under a month in each sign, unless it is in or approaching a retrograde. Like the sun, we each have a “Venus return” when this planet returns back to its original placement in our astrological charts. This can be a time when we reconnect with our values and experience a glow-up or an attractive window of time.

Astrologically, Venus represents many topics. The words sensuality, pleasure, beauty and money exist within Venusian territory. Venusian energy involves our connection with all of our senses, from the pleasure of a treat to the feeling of a fabric. Our Venus sign can even point to our sense of style. But one of the main interpretations of Venus involves love. This planet is tied to different relationships, and our particular Venus sign reveals the values we hold dear, clueing us in on how we feel valued by others and how others might feel loved by us. In a nutshell, Venusian energy in our astrological charts points towards our preferred way of giving and receiving love, clueing us into what keeps connections alive.

ARIES: An Aries Venus is like the energy of Mars – fiery and passionate. This placement craves excitement and stimulation. They are initiators, and benefit from pausing to avoid impulsivity. It is important for them to feel seen in their fullness within relationships, and they bring a burst of energy into their connections.

TAURUS: In its domicile, Venus is cozy in this stable, earthy sign. For this placement, dependability and consistency are ways they show love and feel appreciated. Venusian themes, like food and pleasure, are important to them. A cozy night in with a great dinner are par for the course for this sign.

GEMINI: For this curious sign of the zodiac, stimulation is key. The ability to float between various topics and communicate ideas – large and small – is a way of connecting with the heart. This Venus placement is known for moving around and avoiding complacency, and their partners benefit from remaining flexible – or being the more grounded partner.

CANCER: Venus in Cancer prioritizes tenderness and nurturing. Words of affirmation can be a significant way they feel seen by their partner. This sign is connected to the theme and practice of hospitality, and they may show affection through cooking or creating a cozy environment for their partner.

LEO: Venus in Leo is playful and courageous. They might surprise partners with their intermittent risk-taking. They appreciate thoughtfully curated dates and might express love through an extravagant plan for a date night, as well.

VIRGO: This Venus sign shows love through paying attention and noticing details. As a highly analytical sign, one of their strengths is recognition and you’re likely to feel seen by a Venus in Virgo partner. They appreciate the thoughtfulness in return, and an avid reader and good conversationalist are likely to capture their attention.

LIBRA: Like Taurus, Venus is at home in the sign of Libra. As the sign of partnership, reciprocity is highly valued by this placement. Venus in Libra is diplomatic and striving to find common ground. At times, relationships can take excessive priority over personal needs. This placement expresses love through acts of service for loved ones and enjoys bringing people together.

SCORPIO: As a sign associated with intensity, this is a passionate Venus sign. Uninterested in the surface level conversations, this Venus sign seeks to understand their partner. When it comes to topics of interest, they enjoy researching and investigating to gain clarity. It’s important for this sign to be in partnerships with those who can probe the depths with them and desire to live passionately.

SAGITTARIUS: For this Venus sign, there’s a need to satiate curiosity through exploration. Local adventures could be essential for building deep connections. As the globetrotter of the zodiac, international journeys can positively impact romantic bonds and help this sign feel satiated, connecting with their personal values, as well.

CAPRICORN: This sign views love through a practical lens. It’s important for this Venus sign to feel like their relationships are being built on solid foundations. While loyal, they’re not one to stay complacent, and they might try to build the connection in new ways over time. This sign has a playful side that is revealed within their closest bonds.

AQUARIUS: As a sign associated with an unconventional nature, this Venus sign might keep their partner on their toes. Delivering unexpected surprises can be a way they express love, and they appreciate quirky expressions of love from partners. This sign can prefer to keep their personal life quite private, and their vulnerability is reserved for those closest to them.

PISCES: A sign of romanticism and dreaminess, this Venus placement is a lover to their core. Venus is also exalted here, so its natural qualities are magnified. This sign might find personal value through their creative expression, needing to tap into their artistic side. In connections, they can tend to see the glass as half-full overemphasizing the positive traits in partners or the ecstatic feeling they get over the full picture. As a sign of unconditional love and deep spirituality, there can be a rare emotional and psychic sensitivity experienced in connections.

If you’d like to take this further, learn about the house your Venus placement falls in and the meanings of that house. Apply the words associated with Venus to that house’s themes. You can also extend past the romantic notions of this planet’s energy and dive into how the sign lends its traits to your sense of style of spending habits.
