Resetting the Energy in Your Home

Resetting the Energy in Your Home by Felicia D’Haiti | #AspireMag

We create our home environments to reflect our thoughts, emotions and mindset. Energy can neither be created nor destroyed. Every object has its own vibration. Yet, how much attention do we pay to the way we set up and live in our homes, knowing that each object can have an impact on our own energetic vibration. After the initial move-in and decorating, how often do we change or update the look and energy of our home? When we are focused on attracting our desires into our lives, it is essential that the vibration of our living spaces matches that which we hope to attract. Assessing and reflecting on the present energy and resetting it to match our desires can be a simple and compassionate process.

When you walk into a place you’ve never been, how aware are you of the way in which it makes you feel? Do you scan the space, taking in every color, texture and smell? If the space had been used for a particular purpose, can you feel the prevalent emotions of the room? For example, does the air in a room feel tense to you after a fight, or full of energy during and after a party? Now, reflect on how you feel when you step into your home everyday. Are you aware of how you feel? Do you even notice the colors, textures, smells, and images that surround you, or does it all become background noise to what you are doing? The more time we spend in a space, the less we tend to notice the little details. Everything blends into the background of our experiences.

When our environment stays the same for a long time, we may no longer notice its impact on and relationship to us. Yet, the energy of our environment is still either supporting or hindering us as well as the vision we hold for our life. How can you become aware of all that our environment holds and represents for us? There are a few different ways that we can tap into the energy of our home. One way is to quiet and ground yourself, become still, set an intention to see and feel your home with a fresh perspective. Then enter your home through the front door and take a tour of your home as if it were someone else’s open house. What do you see, feel, and experience as you walk through the home? Another way to see your home with fresh eyes is to take photos of the rooms. It is amazing how much we can see in a photograph that we do not see when walking through or living in a space.

Once you have a clear picture of what your space looks and feels like, you have become aware of your starting point and can move to the next step of setting a vision for what you desire your home to look, feel and smell like. How will your “new” home help to support the goals and vision you hold for your life overall? Then make a plan to close the gap between your current home and a refreshed space. When setting the vision for your life and your home, reflect on how you want your life to look, and more importantly, feel in the next year, two, or five years? Next, tap into these emotions and take another look at your home through the lens of the emotions you desire. For example, if you want a space that supports more joy and abundance in your life, look through your home to determine if the objects, colors, textures and furnishings make you feel abundant and joyful.

For some, the next steps may include clutter clearing. Is there anything in your space that doesn’t support your vision? Is there anything that is blocking you from feeling flow in your life? Removing these things can produce magical and immediate results. When deciding what to release, remove things that bring your energy down and that don’t reflect your vision. Remove those things that are broken, unused, and are duplicates. While some things can be released, others may just need to be removed to a different location.

Once the clutter is cleared, assess how you feel in the space. Are the remaining objects more in alignment with your vision? After clutter clearing, are you more connected to your home? Our homes are our personal sanctuaries, that provide safety, security and a space where we can be our authentic selves. Do you feel physically safe? Do you feel emotionally and spiritually safe? What can you add, fix, or change to make your space safe on all levels? Do you have things around you (including colors, images, scents) that provide a sense of security and beauty, that make you feel loved in your space?

Another aspect to reflect on is how your space may or may not mirror cycles of nature and the seasons. Our home can either support our connection to nature or disconnect us from it. And why is it important to feel a connection to nature? Our bodies still adjust to the seasons and cycles of nature, just as our ancestors did. We have just created, with technology, means to operate outside of what we may view as constraints of nature, but are really the cycles that our bodies flow naturally with. Nature sounds can lower our blood pressure and provide other stress-relieving benefits.

There are several ways we can connect with nature. One way is to open your windows and let fresh air in. Another is to bring fresh flowers and plants into your home; or seashells, rocks, or anything else that can be found in nature. Even having images of these things around your home can help to bring in that energy. I have not always been successful with keeping plants healthy and happy in my home. If you are like me, having beautiful, artificial plants in your home will still bring the energy of nature into your home.

Next, look at the images that you surround yourself with in your home. If you are single, looking for a relationship, it is recommended that you have images of pairs or sets in your home to attract a relationship. On the other hand, if you are in a relationship and would like to release your relationship, surrounding yourself with solitary items will support your vision of being single. If your desire is to feel abundance, do the images in your space make you feel abundant?

Resetting the energy of your home can be done through clutter clearing and physical cleaning of the space. One way to regularly reset the energy is to make changes as the seasons change. Look at the way the quality and amount of light changes as the seasons change. Which parts of your house hold the most light? How can you reflect the colors or light transformation in your home? Our homes are reflections of our inner selves. As we are continually growing, learning, and changing, our homes should continue to support us in our growth. Surrounding ourselves with the energy of that which we desire is one way to provide additional, needed support for our lives.
