As you begin to emerge from your pandemic cocoon, you may feel overwhelmed, even anxious about re-entering a post-quarantine world. You may be concerned about things returning to “normal” when your life has transformed into a new, more conscious and enlightened way.
If you’re feeling this way, you’re not alone. You’ve just come through an especially intense, challenging, and for some of you, traumatic time. Just the thought of things shifting back to the way it was can be anxiety-provoking and cause you want to stay in your safe and secure bubble.
I’ve been calling this, “Reentry Anxiety.”
We are in the midst of not only a global crisis, but a spiritual one as well. This spiritual crisis has given us the opportunity to become crystal clear of what’s important in our lives and what isn’t. It has called us to become more aware of our sacred core truths and live by them more than ever before.
Being human isn’t easy right now.
Like salt–water taffy, your trust, strength, and resiliency has been stretched to the max. As in any transformative time, however; there are spiritual linings. What if it’s to slow down, connect with your heart, and make necessary adjustments to be more aligned with your soul’s path? What if it’s to become clearer about how you want to live? What if it’s to spend less time in distraction and more time communing with your divine source?
Creating a New “Normal”
This sacred time has challenged you to let go and become clear of what’s truly important in your life. It has shown you the unhealthy habits, endless distractions, and self-sabotaging behaviors that have kept you stuck and held you back from living your best life. It has given you the opportunity to create a new “normal.” What’s that new normal going to be? And how will you sustain it?
Here are my 5 Sacred Strategies to Inspire Your New “Normal”:
Keep It Simple: Simplicity of the present moment originates in the heart, not in the mind. It’s grounded in your present awareness in connection with your divine source. When you see life and make choices from this spiritual perspective, life flows easily, naturally, and simply. Living simply doesn’t mean you have no problems, less demands, or experience less doubt, conflict, or confusion. But, when you lead from your heart rather than your head, you stop trying to figure things out and trust the inner knowing of your core self. Being awake, aware and attentive become a priority.
When you have mixed feelings or self-doubt, pause, open your heart, and listen deeply to your simple truth. Seize the moment and don’t be afraid to dive deep. Let yourself become clear of what’s core to your being and what no longer serves you. What part (or parts) of your life do you need to shift? What unresolved issues, unhealed wounds, and fear do you need to release? What self-sabotaging behaviors or patterns do you need to change? Take precious care as you feel your feels, process the underlying issue, and release.
Do Less Be More: Give yourself permission to “just be.” When you feel overwhelmed, or exhausted by the endless tasks demanding your time and attention, take time out to let yourself be. Engage in the things that make your heart sing and your being come alive. Accomplishments are wonderful, but, it’s the light of your being, not the work of your hands that is the basis for your soul’s expression. For the last year, life has slowed down, plans have been canceled, and the universe of possibility has opened up to you. Keep this slower more deliberate pace. Focus on your inner self, play with those possibilities, and fully express who you are. Yield to this freedom of spirit knowing that nothing else matters except your core being.
Seek creative outlets to channel the energy that is released when you open your heart and yield to spirit. Direct the flow of your energies creatively. Say yes to new experiences, ideas, and people that make you step outside your comfort zone. Tell yourself, “I give myself permission to _________________.” Make a list of activities that bring you joy, then participate in one activity from the list each day.
Live Intentionally: Let the energy of intention guide your every breath, thought, word, and choice. When you live intentionally, you consciously co-create what you want rather than unconsciously allow life to happen to you. The intention you bring to every situation ultimately determines the outcome of that situation. Your intentions are even more powerful when you become an intentional being, co-creating a conscious relationship with your life. It’s the surest path to a life lived with heart and soul. Be more intentional of every moment in your day and how you will spend it. Make each day count by living it to the fullest especially now when there’s no place to go or less to distract you.
Slow down and create space between transitions. Be mindful of any transition whether it’s between one thought, one movement, or one choice to another. When you slow down, you can pay attention to your thoughts, feelings, and energy. It provides the pause so you can become aware of every moment and what kind of energy you are bringing to it. If you’re bringing a lower vibe, you can recalibrate it in that moment.
Count Your Blessings: Look for something positive everyday even if on some days you have to look harder. Dwelling on the positive things in your life moves you toward the tipping point of positivity. Real experiences of awe, wonder, joy, inspiration, happiness, gratefulness, contentment, and connectedness–anything good in your life, needs to be given focused attention. As your day begins, close your eyes, place a hand on the center of your chest, and focus your attention on your heart. Acknowledge the blessings of who you are and what you already have. Give thanks for the day in front of you. Trust that no matter what happens today, it will be a good day.
As your day comes to a close, allow yourself to think about three positive things and then three challenges that happened during the day and why you believe they happened. You can write them down in a journal so that you can review them later. Appreciating what shows up in your life, even the challenges in your life raises your personal vibration which generates more positive energy to come back to you.
Be Love and of Service: More than ever, you are called to be love and of service. Your service at this time is to be a part of a global initiative of love for humanity. There’s much going on in the world that’s beyond your control; but what’s in your control is to love unconditionally. To love, care, and be there for those who need you. When you put positive energy out into the world, that is what comes back to you.
You are here to love, to be love, and to serve; yet, your service must be a healthy energetic exchange in which you are a conduit of love energy. This mutual circulation of energy results in making your needs as important as another person’s. Caring preciously for yourself will ensure that you have the resources to care for others. Once you do this for yourself, you can become a compassionate healer without sacrificing yourself in the process. Make the enlightened choices that serve yourself as well as others’ highest and greatest good.
In this new post-quarantine creational space, it’s important that we don’t become complacent and return to our pre-virus habits. Let’s continue to make the changes that are necessary for our soul’s and planet’s evolution.
