How would you like to live a life of abundance―a life where you created wealth effortlessly and joyfully? How would you like to feel grounded in a sense of your own truth, and completely connected to your purpose and aspirations?
No matter what your life looks like right now, you can have all of these things―but first, you have to choose them.
Life is about choices. Changing one thing can change everything. So if you’re not one hundred percent over-the-moon about your work, your weight, your relationships, or your bank account, it’s time to choose something different.
Change begins with the energy of choice, because energy is at the root of all things in this reality. Every moment of every day―whether you are conscious of it or not―you are sending out energetic vibrations. Sometimes these vibrations are of joy; sometimes they are of fear and anger. No matter what, the energy you put out comes back to you in the form of experience.
If you want to create major, positive change in your life, it’s time to start choosing what you really want, instead of letting your current circumstances, your past, or the other people in your life choose it for you.
There’s no magic potion here; there’s no privileged, secret formula that only “lucky” people know. There’s only the Universal law that says, “Like attracts like. Change your energy, and you change your entire experience.”
So where do you begin?
Key #1: Desire
Do you really desire a change?
Many people say they want to change their lives, but very few will follow through to actually create that change. To do so takes determination, courage, and a deep desire to manifest something better.
If you don’t wholeheartedly desire to change what isn’t working in your life, your life will not change. You will continually experience the same results over and over.
The same applies if you are afraid of change, because fear clouds and dilutes desire. Before you can make changes that stick, you must accept that change is a necessary part of life.
If you can delve into the pure heart of your desire to manifest a new life, connect to that spark, and hold onto it even when life throws you for a loop, you will have taken the first and most important step toward choosing a bigger, better, more fulfilling life.
Key #2: Have A Vision
Once you’re tapped into your desire to change your life, it’s time to connect to your vision.
We each have a personal vision―it’s our “why,” our direction, our purpose. While the desire to change move us through fear and out of darkness, our vision gives us a destination, and keeps us on the path to our bliss, our peace, and our abundance.
Once you’ve found your vision, you can create an action plan around it. Your plan, at its heart, is a series of choices you will make in order to move your vision toward its full manifestation. It’s helpful to break down your plan into smaller steps and choices that feel attainable and empowering. Remember, even seemingly insignificant choices will still move you closer toward your dream life, and the you who wants and needs to be present there.
Key #3: Action
For better or worse, we are blessed with limited time on this earth―and that time tends to pass far more quickly than we’d like.
How we utilize our time is one of the most important choices we make as human beings. Even when you have a deep desire and clear vision, it can be easy to slip into complacency, and put off until tomorrow what could be done today―or let a fear of failure keep us from moving forward.
In order to create the life of our dreams, we have to choose to take action. Sometimes, this is scary, especially if we get stuck in perfectionism or feel underprepared―but as one of my mentors once said, “You can’t perfect something if you never launch it! Something is better than nothing.”
Whatever you aim to accomplish will be achieved more quickly and with a greater degree of efficiency when you act in an inspired way. Seize the day, make the most of the resources at your disposal, and then adapt and adjust as needed. The mere choice to act brings you closer to discovering and embracing the true you.
One note: if you find yourself toying with grand ideas that never come to fruition, or if your actions always lead you back to the same, unfulfilled place, you may have some underlying blocks that need to be examined. Are you truly choosing to change your life―or are you merely choosing to act like you’re changing your life? Do you really feel in your heart that you can succeed? Take the time to stop, assess, reconnect with your deep desire to change your life, and create a plan you can actually work with.
Key #4: Accountability
Each day offers us an opportunity to recommit to our desire to change, our personal vision, and our action plan. When we do this, we show the universe that we are ready for change.
One of the hardest things in life is feeling stuck in a situation that we don’t like and want to change. Sometimes, the reason for our being stuck is buried so deeply that we can’t see it. Or, we may have exhausted ourselves trying to figure out how to make the change, and given up in frustration.
A great way to move forward in creating the life of your dreams is to work with a coach or mentor. Such a person will see obstacles that you weren’t aware of, and guide you through the tricky places where you often lose your way.
Nearly all of the wealthy and successful people I know work with coaches and mentors. They know that there are times when it’s simply impossible to figure it out on your own. Partnering with someone who knows the way to where you want to go can help you make more aligned choices, and create your dream life in the most efficient possible way.
Key #5: Celebration
In this crazy, non-stop world where we all have never-ending to-do lists, it’s all too easy to forget to celebrate all the good things that come our way.
When we accomplish something and simply move on to the next task, we are undervaluing our results. So when your choices create something you’ve been dreaming of, or when you reach a milestone in your change process, acknowledge it! Celebrate it! Even if it seems like a small thing, you have still created a positive outcome through your choice, desire, action, and accountability.
Celebrate your struggles, too. I know there are people out there who make it look easy―but trust me, real change is never easy. Reward yourself for getting past the sacrifices, suffering, and false starts that tripped you up along the way. Recognize how they made you stronger, wiser, and more compassionate.
There is an amazing and wonderful being inside of you who is eager to come out and shine her light into the world, a strong and committed woman with the ability to choose―and create―anything her heart desires. Now is the time for you to let her out and watch her thrive.
You can do it. You can have it all. All you have to do is choose.
