Your personal vision is your guiding light. It’s your North Star, the beacon by which you navigate all of the various facets of your life. It is your highest priority, and the ultimate deciding factor for every action you take.
And yet, somehow, personal vision ends up taking a backseat for many people. Instead of treating it as their North Star, they regard their vision as more of a treasure map—a fun fantasy to be dragged out when things ease up and they have some breathing room, but not anything on which to base daily strategy and business decisions.
This is backwards thinking. If you don’t have a strong personal vision to guide you, you will end up working yourself in circles. You won’t find the fulfillment you dream of, or create a lifestyle of freedom and joy, because you won’t even know how or where these things exist for you. You might make some money, but will you be truly wealthy? Probably not.
In The Wealth Attraction Formula, personal vision trumps all. Your company vision can change. Your ideal client can evolve. You can move on from coaches and mentors who no longer stimulate your growth. But if you want to create real wealth on your own terms, your personal vision must be central to every action you take.
How do you stay accountable to your personal vision? The key lies in your vision itself. Look at what you want to create, and start creating it—even if you can only manage a little piece at a time right now. If you want to create a spacious lifestyle, don’t allow yourself to become a slave to your work; instead, even when things are hectic, make time every day to just be. If you want to align with material wealth, surround yourself with wealthy energy whenever possible. If you want to be happy, calm, and open, engage in personal growth practices that support those feelings. Ask yourself what you truly want, and then find ways to bring that energy into your daily life, no matter what else is going on.
Every other month or so, I take time to travel to an exclusive luxury location for a solitary mini-retreat. I book a room in a beautiful hotel, and spend a couple of days enjoying the high- end restaurants, shopping, and just immersing myself in the energy of one of the nation’s wealthiest communities. During this time, I examine my short- and long-term goals, plan out my action steps for the next few days, weeks, and months, and generally check in with myself and my personal vision to make sure I’m still on the right track. This time is vital for me in staying accountable to my vision for a wealthy, healthy, happy life. It’s an energetic reset, and part of the way in which I walk my talk as a wealthy, successful person.
To me, being in an environment where I’m surrounded by the trappings of wealth helps me align with wealth energy. It’s part of the way I walk my talk; by investing in myself in a way that makes me feel pampered and valuable, I reinforce the mindset that I am abundant, and worthy of abundance. Could I create the same alignment if I chose to save money and stay in a Motel 6? I doubt it. at, to me, would be incongruent with my personal vision and incompatible with my wealthy mindset. I would essentially be saying to myself, “I want to be wealthy, but I don’t believe that I have enough to move through the world like a wealthy person.”
Of course, I’m further along in my wealth journey than many people. For those who are just starting their Wealth Attraction journey, creating accountability through experience will (and should) look a bit different. After all, putting on a “rich” façade while struggling to pay your bills will create just as much energetic incongruence as a scarcity mindset!
The best and easiest way to stay accountable to your personal vision is to keep your vision at the forefront of your mind at all times. Post your personal vision statement on your office wall. Hang your vision board in a place where you can see it multiple times per day. Carve out small chunks of time each week to take actions that move you closer to your personal and lifestyle goals and provide you with inspiration—whether that’s walking in the woods, going out on the town, working out, meditating, or snuggling up with a great book.
As your company grows and your wealth increases, your personal vision can and should evolve. However, when you do make a change to your personal vision, be sure it’s for the right reasons, and not as a concession to the demands of your business or some other change in your life. You will know when it’s time for your personal vision to shift when it no longer excites and motivates you. Maybe you’ve outgrown some of your old dreams. Or, maybe you’ve reached the goals you originally set around your wealthy, successful lifestyle, and it’s time to expand even further. Maybe catabolic energy is surfacing, and you find yourself making excuses as to why you can’t or shouldn’t do the things on your list. Maybe you simply don’t want what you thought you wanted. e reasons matter less than the underlying mindset and energy.
Above all, a wealthy life is a life that feels happy, fulfilled, abundant, and spacious. What those things mean to you, personally, form the foundation of your desires, which underpin your vision and action. Accountability to your personal vision, in the end, is accountability to what you want out of life.
After all, you can start another business, or find another niche, but you can’t start another life!
