If you’re reading this, I know that you’re likely feeling it, too—the heavy energy that’s permeating the world right now.
For empaths, it can leave us feeling emotionally drained and physically ill to the point of wanting to curl up in a ball and shut out the world. Without practices to nurture our needs, process our emotions, and shield ourselves from unwanted energies, many of us find it challenging to navigate these times.
Here are some tips to help you navigate life with greater ease when it feels anything but peaceful:
1. PAUSE – When you find yourself getting spun up in the energy surrounding you, choose to step away, pause, and ground yourself. Often, a walk in nature, meditation, or simply listening to some calming sounds can help restore your calm. Remember that your energy is like a magnet and attracts more of what you are putting out, which is why it’s important to focus on aligning yourself with positive, uplifting energy.
2. SET BOUNDARIES – Unfortunately, there are times when, despite your best efforts to maintain your energy, those you come into contact with impact your peaceful, calm state. If you’re feeling drained and noticing that your mood is changing in a less-than-desirable way, it’s a sign to take a break. It’s okay to let others know you need time for yourself.
3. FIND YOUR TRIBE – What individuals do you consider to be part of your “tribe?” These are the ones who are there for you through thick and thin. They listen without criticism or judgment. They offer you a listening heart that feels safe to share your deepest thoughts. You can trust them, knowing they will love you despite your worst days.
4. BE EMOTIONALLY HONEST – When you’re feeling burned out, overwhelmed, and ready to hibernate from the world, it’s important to be emotionally honest, at least with yourself. You may not feel comfortable sharing with others, but allow yourself to process the feelings arising. Make time to reflect on what’s coming up for you.
- What feelings am I experiencing right now?
- What fears are coming up for me?
- When is the first time in my life I remember feeling this way?
- Are there parts of me that might be triggered right now and need healing?
5. ASK FOR HELP – If you are struggling know that you are not alone. Reach out and connect with those who can not only support you but will encourage and empower you to find your light again. Remember, we all struggle at times, this is a normal part of life. Asking for help when you find yourself stuck in the darkness is one of the most courageous things you can do
6. STAY CONNECTED – Many of us begin to isolate ourselves when our energy feels drained, or we’re unable to maintain our light. I invite you to stretch yourself in these moments and connect with those who can help you regain your peaceful, calm state. I know that you are someone who prides yourself on being a light for others but it’s important that you also allow others to be a light for you when you’re feeling the darkness.
When the world feels dark, remember the divine support that is always there to help you find your light again. Honor yourself through loving self-care practices as you navigate these times. Allow the love you give out to come back to you. I believe in you, and I know that without you, the world would be missing a bright light. Your energy and light matter, my friend.
