We are souls existing in this body that is controlled by a brain with an ego and it rarely all fits nicely together in a pretty little box topped with a bow. The ego is an entity all by itself who exists purely to protect you. But, seriously, there is nothing rewarding or sexy about safely living inside the walls of your ego and never being who your soul yearns to be – shining your light for all the world to benefit.
The play between your soul and your ego is a dance. The choreography is completely ours, so each morning, I have a conversation with my ego. I share with her the following 7 reminders. I let her know that I love her, and I appreciate her. Then I ask her to get out of my way because I have lives to change and I start with my own…Every Single Day!
1.The Dreams and Desires of Your Heart are ALWAYS Possible. Your dreams are yours for a reason. Your soul is calling to you to step up and create the dreams she sends to you. She knows your desires and she is completely supportive of you achieving ALL of them. Your soul wants your ego to know that you are a sea of possibility and your soul would not have cultivated these dreams if they weren’t well within your reach, and perfect aligned with your purpose.
When you take inspired action, even though your ego is screaming to stay small, you are claiming your right to have and be everything you have ever dreamt of. Start small or huge, just listen to your soul and take that step. You and your soul deserve it!
2.You are SAFE to Stand Out and Share your Voice. Many of us are wild, women claiming our places in the world. For a very long era, this station in society was not safe. Your ego remembers that time and tries to squash any inkling you have of doing something that would take you toward danger…
Well, my brave beautiful sister, the world has changed. You are now entirely SAFE to step into the light and share your message. The world and all of your soul sisters NEED your message, as only you can deliver it. Do not shrink into the shadows, claim your presence and allow your soul to shine through!
3.Your Perceived Imperfections Actually Enhance your Beauty, Character and Presence. Embrace Them. Every human has insecurities. It is your ego that is telling you to hide because of them, don’t draw attention to yourself. But the real story is that you are you because of them. You are your most beautiful, authentic self, when you not perfect. You are a real, in the trenches, survived and thrived soul, spilling your beauty and impact in every moment. Share yourself and allow your truth to shine.
When you hide because you fear judgment, you are doing a disservice to yourself, your tribe and all those goddesses, who are watching. Your soul exudes beauty and confidence and perfect imperfections! None of these define you, but they do define your authentic expression and make you completely relatable. So, if you are the woman in the tribe struggling with that internal voice, offer your ego thanks for wanting to keep you safe and tell her, “I am perfect, just as I am!”
4.You are NOT the Truth of your Ego’s Chatter. Your ego is the voice of limiting beliefs, as I have mentioned, that are designed purely to protect you. But these beliefs do NOT define you. They actually stunt you and your personal growth. Your soul’s capacity to love and create so far exceeds these beliefs and the chatter associated with them, that it is difficult to reconcile that they exist within the same being.
Imagine the voices that fill your head when you are about to do something new for the first time. The ego’s chatter is filled with fear and shrinking. The soul’s chatter is a cheerleader that reminds you how amazing this is going to be! For me, the fear and ego chatter were around visibility.
One evening, I forced myself to show up for my tribe. All kinds of things came up. I wasn’t sure I was sharing the right message. Was my hair a mess? Could you see how red my cheeks were? Whatever! I hit the go live button.
That night, as I was getting ready for bed, I got an email that said one of my sisters was in a really dark place and she wasn’t sure why she was here until she heard my message that night. It shifted things for her and she now felt like she had hope. As I cried tears of gratitude and appreciation for her vulnerability and my privilege of holding her up, I realized that none of those questions I had earlier mattered. I stepped around my ego and stood in my truth and that was exactly what my sister needed to save her life.
5.You are the Creator of your Life and Not the Victim. Your life happens because of you – not to you! I know, sometimes bad things happen to good people, but if you keep the perspective that life is happening to you, you are feeding into the ego’s power. You have the power to change the course you are on. You have the ability to make choices, even some that have an element of risk – I know they can be super scary, but as a general rule in my life, there is a direct correlation between risk and reward. The more scared I am about a choice or action, the better the potential outcome has been.
I was stuck in a life that I wasn’t enjoying and my ego sad, “Stay here. It’s a known commodity. What will people think?” But I took the leap anyway. I came out of the spiritual broom closet. Changing the course of my life has brought me joy, happiness and fulfillment that I had only imagined before. You are the creative force in your life. Allow your soul to guide you to the dreams and desires she has brought to you.
6.You are So Much More than Your Fears. Ego wants you to allow your fears to craft the boundaries of your experience. Your soul wants you to forge through those boundaries and see how brilliantly your light shines on the other side of your fears. Your fears do not define you. You can allow your fear to limit you, if you choose… but that choice doesn’t align with your purpose, passion and path.
Defy definition and soar to the heights where your angel wings show. You are perfectly aligned with your divine purpose. Take the inspired action to allow that alignment to create your reality, most abundantly and prosperously!
7.You Already Know Exactly What You Need to Claim the Success and Happiness You Crave. The secrets to your success lie deep within your soul and you get to cultivate that success in any way that looks best to you! Your soul is brilliant and bright and allows for growth and development, without fear and restriction. She has all the answers that are ideal for you. You have access to all of it. Hear her, listen to her, trust her.
Thank your ego. You owe her much gratitude, for she is your first line of protection from the world. But you don’t need to be protected, when you tune into the messages from your soul. Those messages lead you to exactly the place you are meant to be. Your soul is calling and the opportunities on the horizon are nothing short of incredible!
