With the New Year a lot of people have set goals, intentions or resolutions. If you’re a heart-centered person, probably one of yours included to make a bigger difference or a bigger impact. This is the perfect time to redefine how we want to lead our lives.
I held a Vision-Board workshop this past weekend, and one of the things that I was mentioning is that leadership starts by leading our own lives. We don’t need to be on stage or make a presentation to hundreds of people to be a leader. It all starts within us and the choices that we make moment by moment. We always live either by design or by default.
All I know is that deep inside of us, there’s a seed in our hearts that makes us feel the desire to add value, to make the world a better place, enrich other people’s lives and create happier and better lives for ourselves and others.
Here’s the thing, making a difference doesn’t have to originate only from the work you do. It doesn’t matter what you do for work, you can always make an impact and add value on a daily basis, be it at the office, with your clients, at home, at any store that you go, etc.
Based on the acronym for the word IMPACT, here are 6 simple ways to make an impact every day:
Inspire greatness in yourself and others – You can create change in your own life and other people’s life. We all can impact other people’s lives in a positive way, even if we take small actions.
Make Random Acts of Kindness – Make it your lifestyle. Daily kindness could begin with a simple smile to a stranger. A smile can brighten someone’s day who is going through challenging times. Smiling is contagious, so most likely you’ll get a smile back too.
Praise More and Criticize Less – Find genuine things to praise others. A compliment can do wonders! Show appreciation to the people that provide services to you on a daily basis.
Act More and Fear Less – As human beings, we’ll always feel fear when we want to make changes in our lives, but if we let fear stop us in our tracks, we will not be able to grow, live our dreams and make an impact. Thank your fear for shining a light on what needs to be healed and released and take action! Even if it’s a baby step.
Complain Less and Appreciate More – Be grateful for your blessings and appreciate the little things, so your life feels full and abundant. This energy will create a ripple effect on the people around us too. If we focus on what we don’t have or what we’re missing, we’ll be living from a place of lack and scarcity.
Talk Less and Listen More – It’s so easy to go through life on autopilot, go through the motions with the busyness of the day-to-day. When we live that way we might overlook the need for help around us, but we also won’t be able to listen to our heart and intuition. Quieting the noise in our mind and listening more, will help us make better decisions and we will be able to see more opportunities to make an impact in someone else’s life.
Making a difference fuels us and in most cases, it’s our driving force, but when we understand the impact we make on others, we have the power of enhancing it by leading from the heart, so we can have a more positive impact in the world.
